Who should check with a doctor first
fitvee is general fitness information. It is not medical advice and does not replace your doctor.
Check with your doctor before you start any plan (tai chi walking, chair yoga or calisthenics) if you have heart, lung or kidney problems, diabetes or high blood pressure, or take medicine for your heart or blood pressure. Also check if you ever have chest, neck, jaw or arm pain or pressure, dizziness or fainting, shortness of breath at rest or with light effort, a racing or uneven heartbeat, or swollen ankles.
Check too after recent surgery, an injury, a fracture or a joint replacement, if you are pregnant, if you have a hernia (calisthenics' floor core moves press on your middle), if you have been told to protect a joint or your back, or if you are unsure. Also check if you have fallen in the past year, often feel unsteady, have osteoporosis, or use a cane or walker. If a doctor or physical therapist has given you limits, their advice comes first.
